    Audience

The audience is essentially who you are writing to; to be more specific, it is a group or person(s) that you are appealing to in your writing. The audience can also be someone you expect or predict is going to want to see, analyze, skim, or read your document. Audience was something I worked on from the beginning of the class, tailoring my language and picking a primary audience for each project. The main focus on this project was who specifically you were writing to, who specifically in a department you would address, or who would specifically use the information in your project.

For my proposal company called AquaFirmWarriors or AquaFirmindustries.com, we mainly focus around the government of Hempstead, specifically the town supervisor since we were implementing these homes on the east coast of Freeport, Long Island. On the first submission, hempstead was too broad, so in our final submission, we managed to narrow it down to not only Freeport but only the east coast and specific people in the government. In my proposal, it was clear who we wanted to target: “Demographic Information: Local government officials responsible for regulatory oversight and community development in Freeport, Long Island, NY.” With this information, we are able to direct our language, approach, and other rhetorical situations directly to the audience. Changing your audience changes how you communicate an idea, and how you communicate an idea can also change your audience.
