As the class draws to a close, reflecting on the journey we’ve been through feels surreal. Initially uncertain about what to expect, I made a last-minute decision to enroll, diving headfirst into the unknown. What began with a review of rhetorical elements soon evolved into a practical application within our engineering domain.

From the inception of writing and viewing technical descriptions to the culmination of crafting intricate proposal abstracts, each task served as a stepping stone towards refining my skills. Working alongside my peers in Group 4, a diverse blend of computer and biomedical engineering backgrounds, I witnessed firsthand the power of collaboration and the importance of effective presentation.

Unlike previous experiences that primarily focused on ethos, logos, and pathos, this course delved deeper into nuanced aspects like purpose, audience, and media. It challenged us to constantly reassess our approach, ensuring our message was not only clear but also impactful.

Navigating through various digital platforms, I encountered projects ranging from dissecting technical descriptions of solid-state drives to proposing innovative solutions like disaster-resistant housing. Each endeavor provided invaluable insights into the intersection of engineering and communication.

As we tackled our final challenge with the proposal, I realized the depth of my newfound knowledge of sustainability and genre conventions. It’s been a whirlwind of learning, but I’m leaving with a profound appreciation for the importance of effective communication in the engineering landscape.
